GOOGLE MAPS  now can provide you on offline viewing facility, You can download maps of your desire Via WiFi & store them on your android smart phone,For small area Google maps  have a simple solution , will pre-cache your maps. This useful feature is hidden in Your Google Maps settings

• In Google Maps, Go to "Setting" then "Labs".
• Check "Pre-cache map area".

• Go back to your Map and tab on the place you want to cache.
• Then scrool down and you will see "Pre-cache map area", It will be downloaded to your smartphone.

Google Maps will pre-cache an area of 10 miles around  a certain location.
